Ludum Dare Game Jam, 2022
Duration: 48 Hours
Theme: Delay the Inevitable
Additional Challenge: Make a game without guns or violence
Team Size: Solo
Software Used: UE4, Photoshop, Pixaki.
For this project I worked around 20 hours total. I wanted to have a go at a 2D game, 3D is always my go to so I figured what better way to overcome a block than a 2 day sprint of learning 2D.
The 2D art isn’t beautiful but it worked!
Creating sprites, flipbooks and implementing them was surprisingly fun.
I added animation to as many elements as possible and even managed my first parallax background - this really helped further my camera knowledge within UE4.
Overall I’m pleased with the result, with longer I would have made the pick ups effect the time. For example - beer slows the clock, music quickens it and so on..
Submitting the game to the Ludum Dare community was also a great experience, receiving feedback and meeting others in the game dev community.
