달 [Dal]

Dal (Moon) is a third person RPG set in a fantastical universe shrouded in Korean folklore. Play as Han - the newest recruit in a long line of moon stewards and help him on his quest to join his ancestors and fulfil his duties. Like all new recruits however Han’s first day isn't quite going to plan.

For my final university project I wanted to create a game that combines my love of folklore, animals and sparkly effects.

I spent around 3 months on this project around my other university assignments.

This was a great exercise in scope, Niagara, Blender and level scripting. I felt I was really able to build more fundamental engine skills.

I created everything myself with the exception of animations (Mixamo) and audio (Epidemic Sound).

Overall it was a really fun project and I learnt so much from it and feel much more confident creating polished prototypes now.

During production, I playtested the game and went back for a ‘polish’ phase where I added more VFX, intro/end clips and cleaned the code up.

Although I am not a 3D artist, creating all the models was a really beneficial experience as I now have a full understanding of the pipeline and can implement models correctly, especially with animation and socket attachments.
